Rainbow Cake marathon – simplistic

received an order for a rainbow cake, and this time I’m going for a simplistic look 😉

simple is always best – always! 😀

drizzled some colorful choc rice on top, and piped simple stars along the border 🙂

this would have been sufficient 😉 but….

just “had to” add some more colors! sorry..just can’t help myself..haha 😀 😀 😀

Rainbow cake marathon – small sized

It was a nice order. This anonymous girl ordered a small sized rainbow cake as a birthday surprise for her friend 😀 I’m more excited than they are I guess..hehe 😀 😀

This smaller sized rainbow cake is only 5.5inches wide as compared to the full sized cake at 8inches 🙂 however, it’s the same height of the full sized cake, standing at more than 5inches tall 😀

delivered the cake to the recipient, and I was so delighted at her excitement upon receiving her nice little surprise 😉 and they text-ed me telling how delicious the cake was – was all worth it 😉

for the decorations – Confetti!!

Angry Bird cake – the whole gang!

made this cake a while ago, but haven’t got the time to post it here 😉

the big cake in the middle is 2kilos, and the smaller birds are cupcakes – all cakes are strawberry flavoured cakes..love em! 😀 I didn’t have any special dome cake pan, so I just used my round pans and carved the head of the red bird 😉 all birds were carved and covered with buttercream, the red butter cream however is strawberry flavoured too (my customer really loves strawberries :D) and yeah, I sandwiched the cake layers with strawberry jam..this is one STRAWBERRYLICIOUS cake! 😀 I’ve posted the strawberry cake recipe earlier, really simple to try 😉

for the big cake / the red bird I used the piping technique to cover the cake (usually I just smooth my buttercream on the cake, but it doesn’t hurt to try something new ;),  the smaller cakes – 5 of them all together: blue bird, white bird, black bird, yellow bird and green bird are also covered in butter cream (just vanilla flavoured) 😉 all the birds’ beaks are done with candy stripes cut to desired shape 🙂

I had great fun making this cake 😉 the customer, Nur from Pekan also loves the cake 🙂 YAY!

funny thing: after crumb coating the big red bird, my son have a peek and was angry at me, saying I should make a bird, not “oink oink”…haha 😀

a friend commented that my angry bird doesn’t look angry enough, and it looks “manja” (sweet)..I agree 😀 well, it IS for a birthday after all, so we would want happiness and cheerfulness, not ‘angriness’, rite 😉 hehehe 😀

hehe…when it comes to birthday cakes – plain vanilla cake with buttercream decorations, I can do it right away..just a few hours would do 😉

got an order from kak Nur in Mahkota Aman around lunch time and the cake is done and ready for delivery the same night 😀 (that’s pretty quick for an amateur like me..LOL)

decorated the cake with some simple decorations, with our cute cakes theme in mind 😉 simple n cute cakes are what we do best 😀

this is a 1.5kg cake. sold at RM40. thanks kak Nur for ordering 🙂 starting June I’ll have ready made birthday cakes on standby for walk-in customers 😀 wait for it 😉 😉 😉

Cheesecake + choc cake

inspired by the Crumb Boss‘s Red Velvet Cheese Cake, I made this chocolate cake + cheesecake = Chocolate Cheese Cake 🙂

it has two layers:

+ bottom layer: moist chocolate cake

+ top layer: vanilla cheese cake with choc cake crumbs

and I covered the whole cake with butter cream 🙂

I sure hope Habsah from Cherating likes the cake she ordered, and a happy birthday to her sweet daughter Humaira 😉 thanks for ordering 🙂

Choc Fudge Cake

People love to garnish their chocolate cakes with ganache…not me..I cover them with choc fudge..YUM! I really love choc fudge as it has a more chocolatey taste, makes indulging a choc cake more heavenly 😀

layered this moist choc cake with fudge with crushed nuts in it (I prefer hazelnut, but used almonds instead because I couldn’t find any..huhu)..YUM!, and covered the whole cake with plain choc fudge..DOUBLE YUM! 😀 garnish the sides with the remaining almonds and piped the writing on top using buttercream 🙂

my son has the honor of scraping the remaining choc fudge..u can see it in his face the pure enjoyment of chocolate he’s having..haha 😀

her house was not that hard to find, but not being familiar with the routes and that area makes it difficult for me…hubby dearest..I need a GPS!! 😉 😉 😉

Birthday Cake – how to choose?

hi, most of the time my customers takes a very long time to decide on which cake to order for their beloved ones birthday. I too have that problem when making a birthday cake for my boys..it’s hard to put your finger on what to actually make, but when the time comes, a cake was ready, nevertheless 😉

usually, in deciding which birthday cake is best for someone is to know what their interest are 🙂

kids: what they like – cartoon characters, tv shows, games, toys, story book, activity, etc. kids are delighted by what they SEE! so, a striking cake which resembles what they like is such a delight to them 😉 choosing a flavor is quite simple, most kids love chocolates, so a chocolate cake with delicious butter cream usually suits their taste just fine 😉

adults: what they like to EAT! adults indulge in cakes, so choose a cake that would satisfy their taste buds, and they’ll be happy 😉 a fancy looking cake doesn’t hurt too 🙂

for example, my eldest is so into Lightning McQueen, a character from Disney’s Cars – so I made him a mcqueen shaped cake in 3D. my 2nd child loves dinosaurs, so I made him a dino shaped cake in 2D. my husband loves banana cakes, so I baked him a nice moist banana cake frosted with yummy choc cream – it’s pretty simple, you just have to put some thought into it, and you too can choose the best cake for your loved ones birthday 😉

this cute Dino cake was for my son’s 2nd birthday. He bought this cake to school and share it with his friends. His teachers complemented on how good the cake tastes (yay!) 😀

sorry for the low quality pic, I was such in a hurry to send them to school, I couldn’t find the camera in time – so just snap with my cheap phone..sigh..

it’s made of 2 choc cakes, buttercream, and plenty of chocolates for the spots and eyes (even Hershey’s kisses for the spikes on the back – couldn’t see because of poor quality pic..sorry)

I’d sell this cake for RM50 (it’s 2 kilos, I could make it bigger if u want to 😉 )
