Making a numbered cake is always fun..this time I’m doing a double digit cake – 63..it was a challenge for me as I’m used to make cheerful and cute single digit cakes for kids πŸ˜‰

This 63 numbered cake is for a mom as a special gift from her kids..Kak Ida from bukit sekilau, Kuantan and her siblings wanted a number 63 cake for their mom..I feel happy to make the cake because I was given the freedom to use my creativity on this cake (every baker appreciates this i think..hehee)

At first I still had no idea on how to decorate the cake..even after the cake was baked I was still not inspired..hehe..but I kept on going..carved the cake into “63” (only after the cake was 100% done I realized a spot I forgot to carve on the number 3)

As I was deciding the color for the cake..the design of the just came to me..yay! The theme was pink and I suddenly was in the mood for roses πŸ˜‰

And I was in the mood for chocolates..so here’s the cake fully decorated with buttercream roses and heart shaped chocolates all over..I hope it’s not too much..LoL

Halloween Cake

Got a request to make a Halloween themed cake, and I was all up for it πŸ˜‰ when u think of Halloween, what comes to your mind? I pictured black cats, spiders n their creepy webs,Β  witches, ghosts, graveyards, and of course those carved pumpkins πŸ˜€

The color theme was black and orange (typically Halloween rite ;p) I first covered the cake with orange buttercream..then piped black and darker orange stripes around the cake

Draw a spiderweb and a spider in it (piped all “black things” on the cake using ganache”..that is one tasty spider!)

Big n small

Got a request to make THE Chocolate Cake in larger size..as always, I forgot to weight the cake but I estimated the large one is around 2 kilos and the smaller or regular sized cake is around a kilo..

For the large cake I didn’t do much..because its owner want it to be plain..but I just have to add a bit of color to it..hehe..I feel red is always great looking againts black πŸ˜‰

And for the regular sized cake, it was requsted to be decorated with “lotsa love” as I did on the red velvet cheesecake earlier

matte ganche

i did the usual pour ganache on cake method..but i wanted a matte finish because i think it would look better with the flowers later..

ganache as we all know has a smooth glossy effect if executed properly (hehe)..my kitchen project today was getting a matte effect on the ganache..so, it was experimenting time πŸ˜‰ i used a spatula dunked into warm water (and wiped dry) to smooth out the ganache and wallah..here’s my ganached cake with the matte finish i wanted πŸ˜‰

hantaran:Β gifts exchanged between the bride n groom on the wedding day in Malay culture. The gifts are decorated really nice andΒ glamorousΒ and placed neatly on pretty stands called ‘dulang’. The usual gifts exchanged are clothes, make up sets, perfume sets, handbags, wallets, shoes, chocolates and of course cakes!

Cake buffet table

We had our friends at our place for a housewarming cum eid party..and I prepared a small cake buffet table..made three types of cakes – rainbow cake, red velvet cheesecake and THE chocolate cake πŸ™‚

Made two THE chocolate cake but both were gone in seconds..I’m telling you, THE chocolate cake just tastes divine..no kidding!

This cake deserves a name

It’s the “no name” cake take two! This cake is really good I trully feel it needs a great name πŸ˜‰

This cake is great on many levels..the cake tastes so chocolatey..the whipped cheese frosting is just to die for..I’d like to improve on the ganache tho..(who has a super delicious ganache recipe please do share)

overall this cake is just divine..even my brother who doesn’t like cheese gives this cake a full 10/10 πŸ˜€ even my husband who doesn’t really like cakes love this one πŸ˜‰ it is definitely a crowd pleaser πŸ˜‰ U can tell how much I’m in love with this cake B-)

No name cake

This is what’s called building on recipes..u take a few recipes u know n u put em on together..I made this towering 5 layers of choc cake with whipped cheese icing in between every layer and later poured with glorious ganache! I end up with a towering cake standing at about 5 inches high!

And when we take a bite..it was heavenly! What to call the cake?? Still thinking πŸ˜‰

Too bad there’s no picture of the completed cake with me..but I will update as soon as I get it..and too bad the host forgot to serve the cake to the guests..girls, if u want a taste drop by to cah’s place..rasa kek tu..sedappp..no kidding πŸ˜‰ hehehe

Early Morning Baking

Woke up early this morning to bake some cupcakes for hubby to bring to his office today πŸ™‚ they’re having a potluck πŸ˜€ oh..how I miss potlucks!! 😦

baked 16 pcs of choc cuppies, topped with vanilla buttercream n sprinkled some chocolate rice on top…yummy! (too bad the cupcakes sunk after cooling :(..*wonders what went wrong* 😐

why 16 pieces? well, only 16 could fit in theΒ Tupperware! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

 

Cheesecake + choc cake

inspired by the Crumb Boss‘s Red Velvet Cheese Cake, I made this chocolate cake + cheesecake = Chocolate Cheese Cake πŸ™‚

it has two layers:

+ bottom layer: moist chocolate cake

+ top layer: vanilla cheese cake with choc cake crumbs

and I covered the whole cake with butter cream πŸ™‚

I sure hope Habsah from Cherating likes the cake she ordered, and a happy birthday to her sweet daughter Humaira πŸ˜‰ thanks for ordering πŸ™‚
